The Buffalo Bills defeated the Denver Broncos 40-14, as a team finally got the best of Tim Tebow in the fourth quarter. Tebow threw 4 interceptions in the game, including two interceptions returned for touchdowns in a 20 second span in the fourth quarter.
Buffalo also added a special teams touchdown in the first half, on an 80-yard punt return for a TD by Leodis McKelvin, as defense and special teams scored over half of the Bills’ points.
The Bills looked like the team that started the season 5-2, before being hit with a rash of injuries and dropping seven games in a row. Buffalo racked up 160 yards rushing behind C.J. Spiller’s 16 carries for 111 yards and 1 TD. Ryan Fitzpatrick played error free football, as he ended the day 15 of 27 for 196 yards. And the Bills didn’t turn the ball over while intercepting Tebow four times, turning in a performance reminiscent of their 4-INT victory over Tom Brady and the Patriots, and their 4-INT victory over Michael Vick and the Eagles. When the Bills’ secondary is playing well, the Bills are hard to beat.
Denver was held to 293 yards all day, as the Bills aggressive defense did a better job of pressuring Tebow, as they also had 3 sacks and 8 passes defensed.
The Broncos defense held the Bills to 351 yards, and they did hold the Bills’ offense to just 19 points, but the 21 points off punt returns and interceptions turned the game into a blowout.
The loss drops the Broncos into a tie with the Oakland Raiders at 8-7, with the Chargers breathing down their necks, as the AFC West race is wide open heading into the last weekend. Denver plays the streaking Chiefs next week, while the Raiders play the Chargers in two games to determine the division winner.
