The Bengals today signed WR Brandon LaFell, a free agent who totaled 1468 receiving yards the last two seasons for New England teams that reached two AFC Championship games and won the 2014 Super Bowl.-LaFell (6-3, 210;Louisiana State) is a seventh-year player in 2016. He entered the NFL in 2010 as a third-round draft choice of Carolina and went to New England as an unrestricted free agent for 2014-15. He had 74 receptions for 953 yards and seven TDs (second on team) for the ’14 team that went on to win Super Bowl XLIX vs. Seattle. He added 13 catches for 119 yards and two TDs in the ’14 postseason, including an 11-yard TD for the game’s first score in the Super Bowl.-LaFell missed the first five games of last season with a foot injury but came back to play in 11 contests with seven starts, catching 37-for-515. He played in both New England postseason games, with one start. He signed a one-year contract with the Bengals, after being released March 2 by the Patriots.-“I am fired up, excited to have Brandon on our team,” said Ken Zampese, Bengals offensive coordinator. “We had a great visit when he came in, and I think he’s a really good player who’s going to fit right in for us. I like his style, his work ethic and his consistency, both on the field and just as a person. He’s got great experience, and a lot of toughness, too.”-LaFell has 87 NFL games played, with 56 starts, with 278 receptions for 3853 yards and 20 TDs. He also has played in six postseason games, with five starts, catching 20-for-159 with two TDs.-LaFell still holds the Carolina record for longest scrimmage gain in franchise history, with a 91-yard reception for a TD from Cam Newton vs. Tampa Bay in 2011.
