Six time Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz has announced his retirement after 13 seasons, and the Chicago Bears are losing one of their great on field leaders. The Bears players spoke with one voice on their feelings about their departing leader.
“It’s sad,” said linebacker Brian Urlacher on Monday to the Washington Post. “I learned a lot from Olin. I don’t play O-line, but just watching him as a rookie and watching the way he works, plays hurt, plays injured, never complains. He just practices and does his job. It’s too bad we couldn’t get it done.”
Safety Chris Harris expressed his feelings Sunday via Twitter, including, “Olin Kreutz departure won’t sit well in the locker room for a few days.”
Cornerback Charles Tillman said, “He was the leader of this team. Not just the offense, but the entire team. One of the greatest, hard-working competitors I’ve ever played against. Extremely competitive. Hard-working. Great leadership skills.”
