Michael Batiste is a former NFL defensive tackle and offensive guard who played two years in the league during the 1990’s. In 1995, Batiste played two games with the Cowboys and in 1998 he suited up for six games with the Redskins. He was born on December 24, 1970 and played college ball at Tulane University.
ProPlayerInsiders had a chance to talk with Batiste recently at the NFL Players party. The party featured active players, former players, and Hollywood icons as they gathered to celebrate Super Bowl XLVI. During the interview, Batiste discussed the Super Bowl and the charity of former Cowboys’ teammate Jay Novacek.
Batiste stated that he was rooting for the Patriots because he admires the play of quarterback Tom Brady. He then went on to praise Novacek’s charity.
“I was part of Jay Novacek’s charity down in Dallas, Texas,” Batiste says. “It was fairly interesting. I got a chance to see exactly what they did, and I really was appreciative of the fact that they did bring me in to help out whichever way I could.”
“(Jay’s) associated with Christian relations. They’ve gone out and set up a foundation. They’ve also set up if I’m not mistaken an actual group that helps folks receive Christ as it were,” Batiste says.
Batiste remains a huge fan of the NFL but acknowledges is unfamiliarity with some of the current players.
“I’m a little bit further back in age, so some of these young guys are unfamiliar to me,” Batiste says.
