The Titans signed MLB Barrett Ruud to a 1-year deal on Saturday. The length of the contract makes it clear that the team views Ruud as merely a stopgap until 1 of the younger guys is ready. That will make it easier for the Titans to insert rookie Colin McCarthy late this season if they believe him to be the future at MLB. In the meantime, Ruud should remain a solid IDP producer on a team bound to see far fewer scrimmage plays than it did last year.
