The Seahawks announced Friday the free-agent signings of LB Barrett Ruud, CB Roy Lewis and G Deuce Lutui. Lewis spent the past 3 years in Seattle and is an important special-teams player. Lutui, a former 2nd-round pick, ate his way out of a starting job in Arizona. It’ll be interesting to see if reuniting with his college coach can help turn things around. Ruud has the best chance of starting in 2012. At the moment, he looks like the MLB favorite on the Seahawks’ roster. The team reportedly prefers 2nd-year LB K.J. Wright on the outside and allowed former MLB David Hawthorne to leave for New Orleans. Ruud spent 4 years as Tampa’s starting MLB before signing with Tennessee last summer. He started 9 games for the Titans, but injuries and Colin McCarthy’s superior talent conspired to push him out of the lineup. Ruud averaged 128.5 tackles (about 95 solos) per season for the Bucs and could certainly prove a worthwhile IDP again this year.
