No Bad Blood For 49ers Harbaugh

Following Sunday’s NFC Championship defeat to the Seahawks, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was answering questions in Sunday’s post game press conference with a monotonous demeanor.  This can contrast his fiery and passionate on-the-field antics.

Harbaugh’s even keel responses on Sunday carried through to Tuesday’s press conference as well.  While he is not content with losing Sunday’s Championship game and the culmination of the 49ers season, Harbaugh maintained a positive attitude regarding San Francisco’s season.

Harbaugh made sure to credit the Seahawks and acknowledged them as San Francisco’s biggest rival.

“They’re an outstanding, worthy opponent,” Harbaugh said.  “That’s one thing about a rivalry that is a wonderful thing in football, at any level, it makes both teams aspire to be better, to be great.”

Harbaugh acknowledged that he had been contacted by the NFL regarding an incident that occurred in Sunday’s game.  In the first play of the second quarter, Seattle’s gunner Jeremy Lane was blocked by a defender deep into the Seahawks sideline while covering a punt.  Lane collided with an unidentified, and non-uniformed member of the 49ers while on the sideline.  Lane stumbled slightly and quickly returned to the field of play.

“He did run into our guy and kind of stumbled down to the ground,” Harbaugh said on Tuesday.  “But our guy was in a spot back where he was supposed to be.  I saw it with my own two eyes.”

This sideline incident happened two months after Mike Tomlin‘s sideline debacle against the Ravens on Thanksgiving.
