The NFL has postponed Tuesday’s appeals hearing in the New Orleans Saints bounty case, NFL.com reports. Hurricane Sandy is expected to create havoc in the Northeast on Monday and Tuesday. The hearing was to be held in Washington D.C.
Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue was appointed to hear the players’ appeals by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after he recused himself. Tagliabue has yet to set a new date for the hearing.
Jonathan Vilma, Scott Fujita, Will Smith and Anthony Hargrove have appealed their suspensions in connection with the Saints’ bounty program.
The NFL filed its motion on Friday, arguing former Commissioner Tagliabue should be allowed to hear appeals on the Saints’ bounties case Tuesday.
The league’s motion followed the NFLPA’s and the suspended players request that Tagliabue recuse himself from the case, because of a conflict of interest, and that a neutral arbitrator be appointed by the court.
The players have to file their response, if any, to the NFL’s motion before 12:00 p.m. CT on October 29.
