In the wake of the injury to wide receiver Josh Morgan, who was leading the team in receiving, the 49ers have signed undrafted rookie receiver Kerry Taylor to the practice squad. Taylor is the nephew of former 49er great John Taylor, who was a fixture on the 49ers Super Bowl teams in the 80s.
Taylor played at Arizona State last year, and caught 54 passes for 699 yards and 3 TDs. The 49ers cut center Chase Beeler from the practice squad to make room for Taylor.
Uncle John Taylor is best known for catching the game winning touchdown pass from Joe Montana to seal the 49ers victory in Super Bowl XXIII over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Now that the 49ers are sitting at 4-1 and have a Taylor on board as a receiver, does Jerry Rice have any relatives that the team should be looking at?
