2012 New York Jets Struggling Mightly Offensively

Just 2 years ago, the New York Jets were flying high coming off 2 straight AFC Championship game appearances. Rex Ryan was the toast of the town. Mark Sanchez was being called the Sanchize. Everything was working in the Jets favor.

Fast forward to the 2012 Preseason and that has all changed for the Jets. The team is getting all the press from the media because of a starter, but when I say starter, I mean the punt protecter. Of course I am talking about Tim Tebow. His main role is the Backup Quarterback to Mark Sanchez.

The New York Jets and GM Mike Tannenbaum should apologize to the fans for their actions this off season. This is a team that was 8-8 last season and had a huge disappointment at the end of the season. They made no major changes to this team especially on offense. They kept Santonio Holmes and got rid of Plaxico Burress. The offensive line was not fixed, even though Mark Sanchez was sacked 39 times. They did not add another running back option to split carries with Shonn Greene after the departure of LaDainian Tomlinson.

I know the Jets are saying that you still have not seen the offense at its fullest potential this off season and preseason. They are not giving away their secret. Shhhhh, don’t tell anybody but I know what they are going to do opening day September 9th at 1pm. Don’t tell anybody. Here it is…….THEY ARE GOING TO RUN THE WILDCAT OFFENSE. Do the Jets really think if they do it in a preseason game or practice, it wont be successful come the regular season. This is coming from a team that is the only organization that has not scored a TOUCHDOWN in 3 preseason games in 2012!!

The Jets fans are getting sick and tired of the mess they are seeing on the field. Its sad because the defense can be a top 5 unit this season, with the upgrade at the safety position with LaRon Landry. Forget what the media is telling you, if Landry stays healthy, he was the best Free Agent pick up for the team.

We will have to wait for opening day to see if this Jets mess can turn around or Jets fans will be in for a very long season. One positive note for the Jets is that they still have 2 weeks until the start of the season to pull things together.
