“If I could get a chance to hit Omar Bolden, I’m gonna take it,” Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner said at Tuesday’s Super Bowl Media Day. “You tell him I said that,” Wagner added.
High school teammates and longtime friends, Bobby Wagner and Omar Bolden once combined to help their Ontario, Canada Colony High School football team win a CIF-SS Central Divisional Championship in 2006. Now they are going to square off on Super Bowl Sunday, and only one of them can take home the trophy this time around.
To clarify, no malicious intent was desired of Wagner because he elaborated on his quote, explaining that “He’s like my big brother, so you know when you play your big brother you definitely want to get a shot on him,” Wagner added. Although Bolden and Wagner most likely won’t be on the field at the same time (both are defensive players), it’s an interesting storyline to see childhood friends and teammates getting a chance to square off against one another.
