Washington Redskins To Present 2012 Player Of The Year And Salute To Service Award

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD - The 52nd Annual Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon, presented by USAA and hosted by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Redskins Alumni Association, will take place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center on Friday.

Although the event is not open to the public, numerous fans will have an opportunity to celebrate and help kickoff the 2013 football season with Redskins players, coaches and alumni. The Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon is the only event where fans and corporate partners have the chance to spend time with the entire Redskins team. Each table is guaranteed at least one player or coach seated with the attendees.

Three Redskins will be honored at the luncheon with the following 2012 Player of the Year awards: Bobby Mitchell Offensive Player of the Year, Mark Moseley Special Teams Player of the Year and Sam Huff Defensive Player of the Year, as well as the 2012 Community Service Award.

My early guess is that QB Robert Griffin III will be named Offensive Player of the Year, but that’s an obvious selection. For special teams, it’s between Reed Doughty, Niles Paul and Kai Forbath. On the defensive side, it will likely be Ryan Kerrigan. And Community Service will be Joshua Morgan, however a close second is fellow WR Pierre Garcon. Both guys stay hard at work in the community when off-the-field.
