The Minnesota Vikings have selected Ruby Azurdia-Lee as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.
The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the third annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2013 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.
The Vikings will honor Azurdia-Lee on September 22 at their Hispanic Heritage game against the Cleveland Browns.
Ruby Azurdia-Lee joined the Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) after a long professional career in philanthropy, media and government. As the President of Minnesota’s largest Latino nonprofit, Azurdia-Lee oversees a $6+ million budget, 100 employees and several initiatives that focus on economic empowerment, behavioral health and healthcare prevention and treatment, and family support services for Latinos and new immigrants. Azurdia-Lee was born and raised in Guatemala City where her family still resides and has been a strong advocate of Latinos and immigrants across the country and believes that collaboration and inclusion are two vital tools in finding solutions to the challenges immigrants face today. As President of CLUES, Azurdia-Lee has begun moving the 33-year old organization to the next stage of development. CLUES is a family-centric “one stop” resource and service center dedicated to removing barriers, increasing skills, and promoting self-sufficiency, assets, strengths and opportunities for Latinos.
Each award recipient will select an organization of their choice that serves the local Hispanic community to receive a $2,000 donation.
Azurdia-Lee has chosen Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio to receive this donation. CLUES is a leading provider of behavioral health and human services in Minnesota.
