The Ravens lead the Colts with a 10-6 score at the half when it could have been a different story for the Ravens. The Ravens stalled twice inside the red zone, one was a fumble by Ray Rice and the other drive featured several overthrown passes by Joe Flacco in the end zone and had to settle for a 23-yard field goal by Justin Tucker.
On defense, the Ravens dropped three would be interceptions, one by Ray Lewis who dropped the ball that was thrown right to him, but couldn’t hang on.
The Colts, playing without their offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who is in the hospital with an illness, put together a nice seven-minute drive with quarterbacks’ coach Clyde Christensen calling the plays in Arians absence but Andrew Luck had the ball stripped away from him by Paul Kruger.
Both passing attacks haven’t been effective while both offenses are having more success running the ball.
Adam Vinatieri tied the game at 3-3 with 2:25 remaining in the half with a 47-yard field goal.
Just before the half Flacco threw a screen pass to Ray Rice who took it 47-yards down to the 2-yard line where fullback Vonta Leach took it in for the touchdown from 2-yards out.
After Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano opted for a 10 second run-off after an intentional grounding penalty, Luck connected with fellow rookie wide receiver T.Y. Hilton on 3rd and 26 with 12 seconds remaining for a 25-yard pass play down to the Ravens 34 before Vinatieri nailed a 52-yard field goal to make it 10-6 at halftime.
While the score could have been worse for the Colts they are giving the Ravens everything they can handle and still remain in the game only down by four points.
Jim Nance reported right before the half that Colts officials have stated that tests came back from the hospital and Bruce Arians is “fine”.
