The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Leslie Frazier after 4 seasons. Frazier took over as head coach for Brad Childress 10 games into the 2010 season after Childress was fired.
Frazier won his finally game as the leader of the Vikings yesterday 14-13 over division rival Detroit. Minnesota finished this season 5-10-1 which landed them in last in the NFC North division.
“We have tremendous respect and appreciation for Leslie and what he has done for the Minnesota Vikings,” said Vikings owner Zygi Wilf. “He stepped in and established a strong positive culture here and he has been the consummate professional as our head coach and in this community. Making this change is difficult, but what we determined is best for the organization.”
This year was one full of expectation for Minnesota after last year’s 10-6 campaign and Adrian Peterson’s historical season. But with poor quarterback play from several signal callers over the course of this season Minnesota decided to go a different way from Frazier who is more defensive minded and is not as quaterback savvy.
Frazier and the Vikings had a 21-32-1 record over Frazier’s four year tenor with one playoff appearance last season which resulted in a first round exit at the hands of the Packers.
