Philly.com has confirmed reports that Eagles quarterback Micheal Vick does indeed own a dog once again. After refusing to answer questions on the topic, Vick released a statement Thursday confirming his family recently obtained one.
“I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”
Vick could not own a dog during a three-year probationary period following his release from prison.
When asked what type of dog he would get, he said he would allow his children to choose, so long as it wasn’t a pit bull.
