Heading into Playoffs the “Need to Knows” About Von Miller

After finishing only his second season, Broncos linebacker Von Miller is definitely making his case as the top defensive player in the league. In the 2012 season, Miller managed a Broncos single season record 18½ sacks, along with 68 tackles, and is also currently preparing for his team’s divisional round matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. After two seasons Miller, will also have two Pro Bowl appearances, and here’s 12 other things you need to know about Miller.

1. Miller believed at the beginning of the 2012  season, if the Broncos took it one game at a time, they could make it to the Super Bowl. He may have hit the nail on the head with this prediction. He stated from jump this year , “The only team to beat is ourselves.” Checkout the interview below:

2. Von has over 36,000 songs on his iTunes account. He listens to little bit of Wayne, Bird Man, and Drake. Miller can relate to Drake. His favorite line from Drake is, “I killed everybody in the game last year..” This quote summerizes Millers performance to date.

3. Miller has a foundation called ‘Vons Vision.’  Miller started this foundation following his rookie season and got it started by auctioning off autographed glasses in order to raise money. The main purpose for the foundation is to give kids who can’t afford it proper eye care. This includes eye exams, eye glasses, contacts, and even Lasik eye surgery!

3. Miller has a newly acquired nickname ‘Vonny Football.’ Similar to current Texas A&M star ‘Johnny Football,’ Broncos coach Jon Fox has recently came up with this new nickname for Miller, which Miller says will be the name of his new Adidas cleat next year.

4. Miller loves the outdoors and fishing. Von is big fan of casting a line, and says fishing is something he does often in his free time, along with other outdoor activites. He also owns 8 acres behind his home that features a pond and woods so he doesn’t have to travel far to do his favorite hobby.

5. Miller stepped up to help his fellow co-workers, as one of the players who sued the NFL during the lockout. Despite being a rookie who had yet to step on the field, Miller was one of the players who sued the NFL to help give the players leverage during the lockout. He said he was doing it for the players before him and to join the “one team” movement.

6. Miller gives out autographed eye glasses. Miller is notorious for the glasses he sports, and fans can even sport the same pair with an autograph on it! Miller recently also auctioned off some of the autographed pairs to raise money for his foundation, ‘Vons Vision.’

7. Von’s favorite player growing up was Derrick Thomas. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Miller’s playing style and pass rushing ability greatly resembles the great Derrick Thomas, and they both sport number 58.

8. Von has a younger brother named Vins. Full name Vinsynzie, the two Miller brothers have very similar names. Vins can only hope his talent on the football field is similar to his older brother Von.

9. Elvis Dumervil is Batman, Miller is Robin. The two are a dangerous pass rushing duo that makes opposing left tackles cringe, and they know it. One thing is, maybe Miller should be the one called Batman.

10. Miller was the only linebacker at the combine to hit the bag during the bag drill. It obviously didn’t end up hurting his draft stock but Miller was the only linebacker to mess up this specific drill. He also claims it was the only time in his life he screwed up on that specific drill.

11. Miller wore number 40 in college. While Miller was a star at Texas A&M, his popularity then was nowhere near what it is now as a star of the Broncos. Since that’s the case, many fans probably don’t know he wore number 40 in a college, a number you would never see an NFL linebacker wearing.

12. Oh and he has hip hop skills. He has been working on a “sack” dance in the Hip Hop Dance experience throw down. . Vote for Von’s skills on twitter by typing in #TeamVon @HHDexperience. Support Miller’s moves!
