Eagles take down Jaguars, 31-24

The Philadelphia Eagles traveled to EverBank field Saturday night to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles came out on top 31-24.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly announced this week that Michael Vick is his starting quarterback, shying away from the less experienced Nick Foles. Vick went 15-23 for 184 yards, and threw and interception. The relationship between Vick and receiver Riley Cooper seems to still be well on the field as they connected for a nine-yard touchdown pass as well. Foles played as if he was still fighting for the starting job going 10-11 for 112 yards. Kelly limited all-pro running back Lesean McCoy to only five carries on the night, but backup Bryce Brown looked very impressive with 11 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown on the night.

With starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert injured, first year head coach Gus Johnson called upon Chad Henne to start Saturday night’s game. Henne went 11-18 for 106 yards with an interception and two TDs, including a 17-yard strike to second-year receiver Justin Blackmon. Maurice Jones-Drew was only allowed seven carries for 28 yards, but the Jaguars got an encouraging sign from young backup Jordan Todman who carried the ball eight times for 105 yards, including a 63 yard touchdown run.

The Eagles will finish their pre season Thursday night at Metlife Stadium against the New York Jets. Meanwhile, the Jaguars will also be on the road Thursday night, taking on the Falcons in Atlanta.
