Eagles Defense in Rough Shape

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid is known for having tough training camps. Well that is taking it’s toll on the defense as they are in rough shape with every starter on the defensive line has suffered an injury.

The last remaining starter on the defensive line was defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins, but that didn’t last long as on Wednesday he suffered a pulled hamstring muscle. That means for the foreseeable future the second team defensive line are taking first team reps.

Veteran defensive end Darryl Tapp understands that even backups have to be ready.

“Reps are reps,” Tapp said. “No matter who it is you have to go out there and put your best foot forward. The eye in the sky never lies.”

In other words any backups who aren’t ready to go in when the starter is injured is either going to get cut or never see the field.

However, there is a silver lining as the Eagles will now know who they can rely on when the starters get hurt again after they return
