This season for the Cleveland Brown’s QB Brandon Weeden will start this Sunday yet again. Weeden has had an up and down season in which the fans were not too happy about; with five games left in the season the Browns had to find the best solution for the position because injuries had killed this team. Brown’s QB Jason Campbell was injured previously by a malicious hit and that had caused Weeden to once again showcase his talents.
At the end of this season Weeden will be at the end of his contract and the Browns organization will have to make the choice between keeping Weeden or letting him go.”For the next five weeks, I’m a Cleveland Brown,” Weeden said Wednesday, per The Plain Dealer. “After that, whatever happens is out of my control. I’m excited. This is one of the best teams I’ve ever been on as far as just the group of guys in this locker room, the atmosphere we have going on, the friendships we have and the camaraderie. It’s great.”
“It’s different when you’re out there on the field under live bullets versus sitting on the sideline getting a little different perspective of it,” he said. “I can’t say I learned anything. I learned being a backup quarterback you have to prepare like you’re going to play.”
“You never know when your number’s going to get called, and I’m excited about the opportunity,” Weeden said. “Absolutely, I want to be out there as much as possible with these guys preparing and going through the weekly process of going out and playing a game. I’m excited about it and we’ll see if we can get back on track and win a couple games.
“Being a backup quarterback, you have to prepare like you’re going to play, and fortunately, I did that every week, and my number was called a couple times and I played in a tough situation in Pittsburgh. Last week, I prepared like I was going to play and when I came into the game, the terminology and stuff wasn’t foreign to me.”
Weeden needs to step it up if he wants to stay in Cleveland. He has had opportunity after opportunity to help out his case on staying and he has been misfiring the ball to open receivers, doesn’t have time in the pocket, and takes way too many sacks in crucial situations.
“I think people around me are feeling worse and approaching me,” Weeden said. “I tell them all the same thing, ‘Hey, listen. I’ve got to fight through it, see what kind of man I am, see what kind of person I am to persevere through a lot of adversity. It won’t be the last time. When I’m done playing and something else happens in life, it won’t be the first time, and going through this will definitely help me have a leg up on it.”
