The leper came begging on his knees for Jesus to heal him, and Jesus healed him. The leper was desperate. He knew he had no hope. He was desperate for Jesus to save him. It was a good thing for him. Its only because of his desperation that he came to Jesus, and it’s only because he was desperate that Jesus healed him. So the leper was blessed, because in his desperation, he was healed.
It is important for the Christian to realize that we too are lepers. We have leprosy of the heart. And it’s a chronic disease. Therefore, we need to come to that place of desperation on a regular basis. We need to come to Jesus everyday, begging on our knees for him to heal us. For if we don’t, we are in denial of our helplessness and believe we don’t need to be healed. This is a prideful attitude and Jesus will resist the proud person that feels he is in need of nothing. Such people come to him halfheartedly, lukewarmly. If you come to Jesus with that heart attitude, expect Jesus to do absolutely nothing for you. But if you come to him begging on your knees, there is no doubt, you will be healed!
