The NFC West title could be on the line tonight.
The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks are facing off at Qwest Field tonight, and the winner will have a major boost in clinching the division.
Currently, the Niners (10-3-1) have the edge over the 9-5 Seahawks. If the 49ers win, they will have clinched the NFC West for the second straight year, and can wrap up the 2nd overall spot in the NFC, clinching a first round bye and home field advantage thought the playoffs (except if they play Atlanta).
There’s definitely more pressure on Seattle to win the game. The 49ers already clinched the playoffs last week with a victory over New England. If Seattle drops to 9-6, they will be right in the middle of a complicated thicket of NFC teams that will all be eligible to make it. Then they will have to rely on other teams losing and not control their own fates.
The 49ers defeated the Seahawks 13-6 in a very defensive game earlier in the season. It will come down to defense again tonight, as both teams now have big play quarterbacks in Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson.
