2012 Salary Cap Is $120.6 Million Per NFL Team

The NFL has announced the salary cap for 2012 is $120.6 million per team. As expected the increase over last year’s cap was not substantial, less than 0.2% or $225,000 compared to last year.

A team may “carry over” 100% room from one season to the following season.

All teams must be in compliance with the cap by 4:00pm ET on Tuesday.  Unrestricted free agents can begin signing contracts on Tuesday as well.

The figures for restricted free agent designations and franchise tenders have also been set.

The regular restricted free-agent tender is $1.26 million, while a second-round tender is $1.927 million. The first-round tender amount is $2.742 million.

Now, the official franchise tag numbers are:

Quarterback ($14.436 million), running back ($7.742 million), wide receiver $9.515 million), tight end $5.446 million), offensive line ($9.383 million), defensive end ($10.605 million), defensive tackle $7.96 million), linebacker $8.856 million), cornerback $10.281 million), safety $6.212 million) and kicker-punter ($2.654 million).
