Fan Focus with BillsMafia: Mafia Monday Interview with @2wheelinfury

“Mafia Monday” is a popular feature in the #BillsMafia movement. Every week, a selected member of the #FAMbase is interviewed. This is an interactive element where members of our community can get to know each other and build unity by becoming a little transparent.

Week 2′s Mafia Monday interview is @2wheelinfury.

His real name is Joe and he describes himself as: Loving husband, and father of 2. Desert Storm veteran, survivor of 5 strokes, cannot walk and barely talk, but everyday is a blessing and I’m glad to be here.

@2wheelinfury

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
Since I was born in 1968. My fanhood was passed on from my father. My earliest memory is in 1973 (showing my age). 3rd game of the season, I went with my dad beat the Jets 9-7 on a last second field goal.

What is your favorite Bills memory?
My first game I attended (mentioned above): Bills-Jets 1973 – I remember how big the field was.

Joe's grandson is named after Fred Jackson because he too overcame the odds.

Do you own any Bills jerseys, and if so what ones?
Yes, I own a 22 Freddy Jackson. I’ve always liked Freddy, even from his European football days. As a side note, my grandson is named Jackson because he was 2 months premature and people doubted him too!

Favorite current Bill?
Freddy Jackson, as mentioned above.

Favorite former Bill?
All of them! But probably Bob Chandler the most.

What is your favorite team to watch lose to the Bills?
The Dolphins.

Best tailgate food?
Chicken wings!

Other sports you enjoy following? If so, favorite teams?
Baseball — I used to coach SR league boys for 15 years. And I’m a Boston Red Sox fan (sorry Yankees fans).

Lastly, what does “Bills Mafia” mean to you?
To be a part of something that is growing by the day that supports our team no matter what.

About #FanFocus: The word fan first emerged as an Americanism around 1889 referring to baseball enthusiasts but today’s football fans are really the true modern day fanatics. While all sports have their fans, football fans have a uniquely intense devotion. We willingly submit to braving the elements in brutal temperatures, eat unusual culinary concoctions, theme decorate our homes, engage in remote control battles, and proudly wear body paint and tattoos all in an effort to show loyalty to our favorite players and teams. Pro Player Insiders is creating a special section on our website and partnering with dedicated fan groups throughout the country to highlight and engage with some of the most passionate NFL fans.
