Vikings Take Notre Dame’s Rudolph at 43

With the 11th pick in the second round of the NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected Notre Dame tight end Kyle Rudolph.

Analysis: They already have Visanthe Shiancoe at the position, but the Vikings would hardly be the only team using a multiple-TE set these days. Rudolph adds a reliable target for first-round quarterback Christian Ponder. He’s 6-foot-6 and a former basketball star with good hands who should help on short passing routes and in the red zone.

Alum: Former Vikings defensive end Chris Doleman announced the pick.
