Seattle, WA- With Ice Cube’s newly basketball league growing, many big-time names, as well as coaches will invest their time, passion, and energy into the branding of the BIG 3. As of Wednesday, Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman was announced as the coach for the team called Power, which makes her the first female head coach to coach a sports team.
BIG 3′s commissioner Clyde Drexler had some positive words about Liberman coming to coach; “Nancy is one of the sharpest basketball minds and also one of the most competitive,” said BIG3 Commissioner Clyde Drexler. “Her experience and basketball acumen will stand out in the BIG3, which is filled with star players and coaches. I couldn’t be happier to pass her the coaching torch.”
Liberman has been an impressive woman of basketball, from her outstanding accomplishments in the WNBA to assisting other coaches, and now she has a place in history as the first woman to be the head coach for a sports team.
“It’s an honor and privilege for me to be a part of the BIG3 and its vision,” said Nancy Lieberman. “We have former NBA players and Hall of Fame coaches who still love the game, have a deep respect for the competition, and a passion to play competitive basketball.
