NFL Mom - Entrepreneur - Philanthropist
Cheryl Foster is a proud wife, mother of a former standout UCLA and NFL running back (DeShaun) and NCAA Division I basketball player (Chanel), community leader, and an entrepreneur. Her commitments to advocacy for athletes and their families began over 30 years ago when her children participated in little league sports. Since this time, Mrs. Foster has utilized her leadership, program development, marketing, philanthropic, and public speaking talents to assist diverse populations at the community, education, and professional sports levels. Cheryl is one of the founders of The John Wooten Award, BOSS(Business Of Sports Summit) and is actively involved with communities across the United States through the Foster Foundation, The Legacy Leadership Program, Re-Direction and other organizations.
Through her family foundation, Cheryl and the Foster family advances educational opportunities (e.g. providing scholarships and resources) for youth in underserved communities, host football camps for special needs children and support other organizations conducting charitable activities (e.g. athletic and academic programs).
As a member of the Legacy Leadership Project executive team, Cheryl helps Pro Football Hall Of Fame members (as well as other former collegiate and professional athletes and coaches) develop one-to-one mentoring relationships with high school football players in order to help the young student athletes make positive life choices.
Through her Sports Mom Parenting Boot Camp, Mrs. Foster continues to host workshops and events for incoming NFL players, parents/guardians of professional football players as well as student athletes and their families in K-12 and higher education settings, fundraising for organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank through the NFL Tackling Hunger Program and serving on various programmatic and award selection committees.
In addition, Cheryl works with various educational and non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. (especially in California) to provide programs for parents and their children to learn and discuss valuable life, academic, financial, athletic and professional skills sets that are necessary to be successful both in and out of the sports arena. Her workshops include Sports Mom Parenting Boot camp, Touchdown for life, First and Ten and Game Ready.
