Robert Griffin III Exchanges Rings: The First Of Many More?

We were not invited to the wedding. In fact, it was media and fans who found out for themselves when the wedding would occur. But Robert Griffin III did indeed receive and distribute a ring on Saturday. The first of many — Washington Redskins’ fans would hope.

For obvious reasons, just like the pre-wedding discovery, fans and media searched the twitter engines to find tweets or pictures — or anything relating to the big day. Some made the search easier than others. Like Rock Newman — the Jet Magazine dubbed “Renaissance Man.”

“The best of America, that’s how I felt,” boxing promoter and friend of the Griffin Family, Rock Newman to the Washington Post. “I just saw people, all ages, all ethnicities, all colors — white, black, Hispanic, Asian — really just enjoying each other. And I marveled at it. I just was filled with a sense of pride and optimism – optimism, man – because we live in fractured world. And that sense of any kind of division was not there.”

Griffin was well represented by his hometown, Baylor University and the Washington Redskins.

The player list included: QBs – Kirk Cousins and Rex Grossman, WRs – Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon and Joshua Morgan, RBs – Alfred Morris and Eric Kettani, OL – Chris Chester, Tyler Polumbus and Kory Lichtensteiger. On the defensive side: DeAngelo Hall, London Fletcher, Stephen Bowen, Richard Crawford and others attended.

To make this all “footballitical” — the process of talking football while being political  – this could indeed be the first of at least a few notable rings for Robert Griffin III… and others.

He’s the total package. The NFL’s offensive rookie of the year has already surpassed expectations — now he must defeat the unnecessary “injury prone” tag. It’s a fairly easy feat, as we wrote here.

After marrying his longtime girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat — now Mrs. Griffin — Robert, Rebecca and another girl (presumably Mrs. Griffin’s sister — who served as her maid of honor) had a little fun in a rap video uploaded by Mr. Griffin III himself.

We assume this is Robert Griffin III, his wife Rebecca (who presumably is to his right — our left) and her sister. Either way, it’s great to see a young athlete have positive and clean fun. Congratulations to the newly weds!
