Hometown Kid, Oboushi on Jets

New York Jets fifth round draft pick, Oday Oboushi is very excited to play for his hometown team. Oboushi was born in Staten Island and grew up in Brooklyn. He is the son of Palestinian parents and the ninth of ten children.

A three year starter at Virginia and a team captain his senior year, Oboushi was projected to be a second round pick. A poor showing at the combine moved him down to the fifth round, but the Jets feel they may have a “steal” in this player. He is 6’6 and 310 pounds, which is ideal size for a tackle going into the NFL. He started at right Tackle, but moved to the left side in the last 20 or games of his college career. Look for him to push for playing time right away starting in training camp. He is someone worth watching in camp battling for either Tackle spot.

Jets Grab Bag…

Receiver Stephen Hill practiced with a sore knee in OTA’S. He missed all of last Week due to his knee problem.

The team signed receiver Ben Obomanu, a former seventh round pick of the Seahawks in 2006. In his career he has 87 catches and 1,209 yards. He is a big receiver at 6’1 and 204 pounds.
