The 2012 Colts finished 6th in pass attempts and 14th in rushes. HC Chuck Pagano wants to see a more balanced attack this season. "We don’t want to be in a situation where we have to drop back and throw the football 600+ times," Pagano said. "Obviously, some of that was due to self-inflicted wounds, so to speak, getting behind early and we had no choice but to throw to catch up. Hopefully, we can run the football better. We will run the football better." Pagano also mentioned working in more screens and check-downs to "get the completion percentage up a little bit." With pass-happy OC Bruce Arians gone, Indy's offense figures to be more conservative in 2013. QB Andrew Luck will likely be better as a player in his 2nd season, but his numbers might take a step back because of the change in offensive philosophy.
