The Buffalo Bills made the most controversial pick of Thursday’s first round draft action by taking Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel.
So the Bills got their quarterback of the future, it just wasn’t the one that experts expected them to take. Rather than taking West Virginia’s Geno Smith, Buffalo felt as if Manuel was better-suited to help improve the franchise for the future.
E.J. Manuel’s stock soared after an eventful off-season. Recent spats with the media and perceived immaturity might have lead to Buffalo making the selection they did. Manuel and new free-agent signing Kevin Kolb will enter into one of the biggest QB-battles of the off-season. It will be interesting to see how things pan out for the Bills, but fans should expect Manuel win the starting job and kick off the 2013 campaign for Buffalo.
