The Philadelphia Eagles have remained busy this off-season by trading for former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Chris Geathers in exchange for fullback Stanley Havili. Geathers has traveled around the NFL ever since he came into the league back in 2010 when he was a sixth round selection by the Cleveland Browns. Geathers has played for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and most recently the Indianapolis Colts. He hasn’t played much though in his short 3 year career with only appearing in 15 total games and last year for the Colts he played in eight games which he recorded five tackles and a sack.
Geathers played college ball at South Carolina where he played in 36 career games and finished with a respectable career stat line of 72 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles. Geathers comes from a football family with his brother Robert who has played for the Cincinnati Bengals for nine years as a defensive end after being drafted in 2004. Chris’s dad, Robert Sr., also played as a defensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills after he was drafted in 1981 and his uncle James Geathers, had a long career in the NFL playing for 13 seasons (1984-1996) and he won two Superbowls and recorded 66 career sacks with the Saints, Redskins, Falcons and Broncos.
