The Raiders have reached a deal with former Dolphins OLB Kevin Burnett. The addition basically amounts to a trade. Miami signed former Raiders WLB Philip Wheeler and then released the incumbent Burnett. Given the $26 million contract the Dolphins handed out, one can say Oakland wins on the swap. Burnett proved a highly productive starter for Miami and won't turn 31 until nearly the end of the coming season. He's the best bet to take over Wheeler's role and could remain a solid IDP contributor with the Raiders. Oakland has also added LBs Nick Roach and Kaluka Maiava in free agency. Roach is pegged as the starter at MLB, a role he has never filled over a full season in the NFL.
