Citing sources, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Miami Dolphins are “highly unlikely” to re-sign free agent running back Reggie Bush.
La Canfora suspects that Reggie Bush could possibly land with a contending team with a short-term deal.
Jeff Ireland recently said during the Senior Bowl that he’s looking for playmakers on offense.
“We’re looking for playmakers on offense. Look, we had two guys with over 60 catches (Brian Hartline and Davone Bess), but we’ve got to find guys that are scoring touchdowns,” Ireland said, via the Palm Beach Post. “This is the year that you got to do something. We’re in a very good position to utilize some of our cap space to bring in some veteran players on our football team, and we’re in a very good position to bring in some young players from a draft standpoint.”
The Dolphins will have five draft picks in the first three rounds and plenty of cap space to play with. So finding playmakers on offense and a replacement for Bush is paramount.
The depth chart behind Bush is Daniel Thomas who’s been widely inconsistent with fumble and injury issues and Lamar Miller who just finished his rookie season.
Bush rushed for over 1000-yards for the first time in his career in his first season in Miami and narrowly coming up short in his second season with 986-yards.
