Redskins vs Eagles: Players Prepped For Excellence

The Washington Redskins will travel to face the Philadelphia in Week 16 in search of their sixth-straight win. Kickoff from Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. ET.

The Redskins can clinch their first playoff berth since 2007 with a win combined with losses by the Bears,
Giants and Vikings. Last week, fourth-round pick Kirk Cousins made his first career NFL start and completed 26-of-37 passes for 329 yards with two touchdowns in a 38-21 win at Cleveland. Between Cousins and Robert Griffin III, the Redskins became the first team in a non-strike season to have two different rookie quarterbacks win their first career starts in the same season since Denver’s John Elway and Gary Kubiak in 1983. The Redskins became the first team in NFL history to have two different rookie quarterbacks post 300-yard passing games in the same season.
With a two-touchdown performance last week, running back Alfred Morris now holds Redskins rookie records for carries (280), rushing yards (1,322) and rushing touchdowns (nine).
Also in the spotlight is first-year kicker Kai Forbath, who has converted 15-of-15 field goal attempts this season to open his career. If Forbath makes his next two field goal attempts, he will break Garrett Hartley’s
NFL record for most consecutive field goals made to open a career (16, set across the 2008-09 seasons).

Leonard Hankerson is prepped for excellence - Hankerson has made some key plays the past few weeks and it all came full circle against the Cleveland Browns in week 15 when he recorded two touchdowns.

The Redskins are finding ways to get Hankerson involved, and most importantly – beginning to trust him in the red-zone.

Perry Riley is prepped for excellence -  Defensive stunts was the story of Washington’s first match-up against the Philadelphia Eagles. That game came directly after Washington’s bye week, when players met with Defensive coordinator Jim Hasslet. The Redskins did a great job of showing one thing pre-snap and switching out of it post-snap. It fooled Eagles’ rookie QB Nick Foles. A lot of that was attributed to the stunts by Washington’s linebackers.

Robert Griffin III is prepped for excellence - I really attempt to mix it up and not state obvious names in my PPFE pieces, but this is the type of game Griffin wakes up a little extra motivated to play. He’s a mad guy, because he wanted to play last week and now he’s likely going to get rid of his frustration on Philly’s struggling defense.

Kai Forbath is prepped for excellence - Forbath was a special addition to PPFE last week, and he’s made it back on this week. He’s 2 kicks away from breaking Garrett Hartley’s record, and that could happen against the Eagles. He’s been one of the better additions Washington has had in years. Simply because they don’t have to worry about the kicking game anymore.
