The Philadelphia Eagles have cut two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin, CSN Philadelphia reports.
Last season, Babin ranked third in the NFL in sacks with 18 and previously had 12.5 as a Tennessee Titan. This season, though, Babin has struggled and has only 5.5 sacks.
“We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years,” head coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation.”
This may be the first cut of many for the Eagles.
