Our insider was honored with two additional awards during the contest: Career Achievement Award and Best Interview Award. Outside of preparing for the Mrs. Texas Pageant, Neufeld works daily as an attorney at Graham Bright & Smith. In her free time you can find Dawn at events in Dallas throughout the week.
It’s hard to catch up with her, but Theresa Villano of Pro Player Insiders recently spoke with Dawn about her recent events and her passion about the 2012 election.
Pro Player Insiders : What events have you recently attended?
Dawn Neufeld: I did two this past Saturday I was able to host a really really cute mom-to-be expo called, “Baby Bash and Bling.” It was so cute. All these expecting moms were giving information about baby foods and resources that were available… so that was really fun. Then later that night I was a presenter at the “Women that SOAR Awards Show,” that they’re doing here in Dallas. They honored some of the most amazing women from local and other areas of Texas. It was just a really amazing night having women come together for a night.
PPI: Are there any big events you are looking forward to attending?
DN: Well, not at this moment. I mean we’re always looking forward to the Super Bowl. With it being down in the “Big Easy” next year we’re going to try and make it down there for that. But nothing at this moment.
PPI: Any personal projects you are working on?
DN: Well I always like to say that in real life I am an attorney, and so I practice at a firm here in Dallas. I do business litigation. So that’s what takes up a majority of my time. I have a couple shows that are potentially in the works. A bunch of projects I can’t really talk about much yet. There some exciting things going on with me.
PPI: If anyone follows you on Twitter they know you are passionate about the president and about autism. Let start with the election. What were your thoughts after the election?
DN: Well I was an Obama supporter so I was really glad to see him get elected for another term. You know I thought one of the things that was so interesting was how polarizing it was, how clear and divided our country is. It was really kind of shocking on election night seeing the results come in when they announced that Obama took Ohio I got a little emotional.
DN: Then when I heard that he got re- elected I was full on crying. I kind of got myself together, and then about ten minutes later there was this amazing let down when I was on social media, Facebook, Twitter in particular I saw some really really nasty nasty things just saying some mean things. But it was such an incredible night for Obama being elected. There was so much hate and so much bigotry. I wasn’t really prepared for that. This particular election I thought Obama was the top candidate for the position. I’m a moderate Democrat, I didn’t care who people voted for as long as they went out to vote. This was a very passionate election, overall I was really happy that Obama got elected so he has an opportunity to fulfill a lot of the things he wants to do.
PPI: What do you look forward to with Obama back in the White House this term?
DN:I think primarily I’m interested in him seeing how he implements Obama care. The geek part of me wants to see whether he’ll replace any of the Supreme Court justices, from anyone retiring. I’m really interested to see how they do with ending these wars and doing what they can to make this country a better place for everybody.
