Washington Redskins Injury Update: Pierre Garcon Career-Long Injury?

Redskins Pierre Garcon Foot injuryThe Washington Redskins had a few injured players return to the football field today: Jammal Brown, Pierre Garcon, and Brandon Meriweather were all limited in practice.

The Washington Redskins have two weeks from tomorrow to lift Jammal Brown off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Brown said that hip is much better and he hopes to play soon, however there’s is not a timetable yet. “Brown looks pain free and if all continues to go well, he could play in the next couple of weeks” coach Mike Shanahan said. Shanahan also stated that Brown’s flexibility looked good.

Pierre Garcon approached the coaching staff about practicing to see if he was ready to go. Garcon continues to say that his foot is not 100% and reiterates that he is exploring all avenues to avoid surgery. What’s interesting is, Garcon says the surgery isn’t guaranteed to completely fix the problem and it may be something he’ll have to deal with for the remainder of his career.

Brandon Meriweather was limited in practice today, but is encouraged about the possibility of making his season debut against the Philadelphia Eagles this week. The defense needs an energy booster and Meriweather could provide that for them, as he is a physical and energetic player. It is not likely there will be a major improvement in coverage, becuase Meriweather is best when moving forward. But Meriweather did prove to be a ball hawk in training camp and could provide the defense with a spark given his play making ability.

Santana Moss (concussion), Alfred Morris (stinger), and Robert Griffin III (ribs) all feel better this week coming of the week 10 bye.
