Jets Think They’ll Rattle Seahawk’s Russell Wilson

We all know the New York Jets aren’t shy about voicing their opinions.

Earlier this week, Antonio Cromartie said the Jets were definitely going to make the playoffs this season. Now, players are sounded off about Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

“We’re going to get this guy rattled,” Wilkerson said on radio station WFAN. “We’re going to go in there and pretty much set the tone.”

The Jets, fresh off a buy week, travel to CenturyLink Field to take on the Seahawks in the loudest stadium in the NFL. Jets’ first round draft pick Quinton Coples is aware of Wilsons’ success at home, but still believes they’ll find a way to get after the rookie quarterback.

“Yeah, we definitely have seen some teams doing good against him,” defensive end Quinton Coples said. “Overall, he’s done pretty well at home, but we have some stuff in the game plan that we feel comfortable and confident will rattle him.”

Wilson has been one of the more difficult quarterbacks in the league to get down. He has been sacked 15 times, ranking in the bottom half of sacks taken by a quarterback. The Jets’ pass rush, meanwhile, has been dormant most of the season, ranking 29th in the NFL with only 12 sacks.

But Wilkerson said it’s about creating pressure and no neccaseraly getting to the quaretback.

“It’s not about sacks,” said Wilkerson, who has one sack this season. “It’s about disruption. Batting down passes, getting hits on the quarterback. Tipped balls turn into interceptions. It’s not just about sacks, just being disruptive.”

The New York Jets tough talk continues to resurface every week. They just can’t help themselves. Hopefully they’ll be able to back up  their chatter against a Seahawks team that’s 4-0 at home this season.
