Fantasy Football Week 8 Trenches or Benches

Week 7 Review

QB:

Upside Play: Jay Cutler: 150 yards and 1 Td, 34 yards rushing. Well not quite what we were hoping for in what turned out to be a low scoring affair.

Upside Play: Andrew Luck: 186 passing yard 0 passing Td’s, 12 yards rushing and 2
Td’s. Passing production was a slight disappointment; however 2 rushing Td’s were a nice surprise.

Sleeper: Brandon Weeden: 264 yards and 2 Td’s and 12 rushing yards. Weeden continues to be a nice surprise and a great QB2.

Bust: Cam Newton: 264 yards 1 Td and 1 Int, plus 64 yards on the ground. More yards than anticipated but yet still only the 1 Td. Newton continues his sophomore slump.

RB:

Upside Play: Chris Johnson: CJ made us look great, going for 195 yards and 2 TD’s, exceeding even our highest of expectations. CJ has rebounded nicely.

Upside Play: Darren MacFadden: 81 total yards and no scores is not what we expected from Run DMC against one of the worst run defenses. MacFadden continues to be the victim of the new Raider blocking scheme.

Bust: Mikel Leshoure: Loushoure managed 84 total yards and 6 recepetion, he was held out of the endzone and remains at just 1 Td for the season.

WR:

Upside Play: Mike Wallace. Wallace posted 52 yards receiving and no scores. His 8 receptions help in PPr leagues.

Sleeper: Kenny Britt: Britt only produced 4 grabs and 30 yards, not going to get it done.

Sleeper: Brandon Gibson: Gibson put up 6 for 50, not great, not terrible.

Bust: Wes Welker: As expected Welker was held in check going for 6 for 66 in the Pats overtime victory of the Jets.

TE:

Upside: Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez: The dynamic duo combined for 132 and 2 scores. Make sure you bench Hernandez this week as he didn’t make the trip to London.

Sleeper: Lance Kendrick: Kendricks put us into hibernation with his 2 grabs and 5 yards!

Week 8 Picks:

QB:

Upside Play: Tony Romo: Romo should be able to take advantage of a suspect Giants secondary in what could be a surprising high scoring game. Look for 275 and 2 Td’s

Upside Play: Carson Palmer: With the raider running game still adjusting to the zone blocking scheme, Palmer will look to the air to get the Raiders a “W”. Look for MacFadden to be involved more in the passing game which will help Palmers numbers.
325 yards and 2 Td’s.

Sleeper: Sam Bradford: Bradford will enjoy a “Jolly Ol Time” in London facing the Pats secondary which has been giving it up in droves. I see him going over 300 yards and 2 scores.

RB:

Upside Play: Ahmad Bradshaw: With Dallas’ leading tackler Sean Lee out, I look for the Giants to try and pound it out rather tan test the strong Cowboy secondary. 100 yards and a score.

Upside Play: Leshon McCoy: Look for “Shady McCoy” to get it going this week, Phily usually has it going coming of a bye and they will use McCoy a lot in attempting to knock off undefeated Atlanta. 125 total yards and a scorre.

Bust: Brown running backs: Whether Richardson can play or its hardesty stay away as they go up against a Charger run defense give up slightly over 70 yards per game on the ground.

WR:

Upside Play: Randall Cobb: Cobb is quickly becoming Aaron Rodger’s favorite receiver. Look for that to continue to grow this week against the Jags at Lambeau. Cobb should approach 100 yards and find pay dirt.

Upside Play: Miles Austin: Look for Romo to find Austin often this week against the “G” men. Miles puts up 7 for 100 and a score.

Sleeper: Devonn Bess: Bess could be a nice play this week, especially in a PPR. With Cromartie surely covering Hartline, Bess should find some room in the Jets secondary
7 for 75 yards.

TE:

Upside Play: Antonio Gates: Gates found his old form before te bye and torched the Browns a few years ago with a career best 167 yards receiving. I like Gates for 7 catches, 90 yards and a score.

Sleeper: Brandon Pettigrew: Pettigrew should benefit from Nate Burleson’s absence from the passing game. In a PPR league Pettigrew is even a better play. Look for 8 reception for 75 yards and a score.
