The Seattle Seahawks and their No. 1 defense take on the New England Patriots and their No. 1 offense.

In a game that may prove to the other 30 teams in the NFL what the Seahawks or Patriots bring to a big game Russell Wilson proved to many why he is the starting quarterback in Seattle. Not to be shown up the Seahawks defense came up with two big stops towards the end of regulation. The Patriots are now 3-3 and sit in 3rd in the AFC East standings. The win puts the Seahawks into a 3-way tie atop the NFC West standings at 4-2.

The game was highlighted by Seahawks rookie QB Russell Wilson leading his team with two 4th quarter touchdown passes to put the Patriots away. The first was a 10 yard pass to WR Braylon Edwards on 4th down. The second was a big play across the middle to WR Sidney Rice for 46 yards all the way to pay dirt. The Seahawks appear to be the real deal in a very crowded NFC West. Going for it all on 4th down with less that 8 minutes left against the Patriots shows how much Coach Carroll believes in his rookie QB and his tenacious defense. Russell Wilson finished with 295 yards and 3 touchdowns on 16 for 27 passing attempts in what turned out to be the biggest game of his young career.

The Patriots QB Tom Brady finished the game with 395 yards on 36 of 58 passing attempts good for two touchdowns and two interceptions. One of those interceptions came in the end zone. The 58 attempts is an all time high against the Seahawks. Overall Brady and company finished with a season high 475 yards against the Seahawks but couldn’t get it done when it counted. The Patriots last two possessions saw Earl Thomas and the tenacious Seahawks defense shut them out.

Also of note, Hall of Fame Defensive Tackle and Seahawks all time great Cortez Kennedy had his jersey retired (No. 96) at halftime. He joins Seahawks legends Steve Largent (No. 80), Walter Jones (No. 71), and the 12th Man (No. 12) as the only jerseys retired in Seahawks history. Jersey number 12 is in honor of the voracious Seahawks Fan base noted for being so passionate that it feels as if there is a 12th player on the field.
