WASHINGTON—One of the remaining mutually agreed-upon issues in what will be the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, testing for human growth hormone, is not a done deal yet.
As has been reported, HGH testing remains one of the final provisions left in the CBA. The NFL Players Association has been working with the NFL to work through this remaining issue in hopes of finding a solution.
Players have made it clear that anyone who has been found to have cheated does not warrant a spot in the sport. NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith has come out against the use of performance-enhancing drugs, saying they have no place in the NFL.
Sean Morey, a former Pro Bowler who sits on the NFLPA’s Executive Committee, issued a statement Thursday about the possibility of HGH testing in the NFL.
Morey’s statement reads: “Players are committed to upholding the integrity, fairness and health and safety of our game to the highest possible standards. At the same time, we care about the fairness of any testing program, the reliability of it and the safety and security of the procedure.”
