There probably isn’t a more intriguing IDP position battle right now than that for Tampa’s MLB spot. Rookie Mason Foster is the exciting upside play, but Tyrone McKenzie is currently running with the starters. McKenzie was a 3rd-round pick by the Patriots in 2009 but was felled by injury in his rookie camp. He joined the Bucs’ practice squad last season and has reportedly embraced a leadership role already. Foster was lauded by Raheem Morris for his “presence” and is the more athletic player. Foster’s size-speed combo is among the best of any defensive player drafted this year. The competition is far from over, and many observers around the team continue to expect Foster to win out. This will be a situation to watch, though.
