While there are no formal meetings over the holiday weekend, work continues behind the scenes on negotiations between the NFL players and owners. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello reported via Twitter that negotiators are not taking the weekend off. “Lawyers are drafting language for potential agreement, sharing it with PA. All kinds of phone, email exchanges going on. Work continues.”
Formal meetings between players and owners ended on Friday in Minnesota with a promise to pick things up again on Tuesday in New York City.
It is being reported by Albert Breer that initial meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday next week will be between Smith, Goodell and their respective staffs with the players and owners joining in for meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Executive Director of the NFLPA DeMaurice Smith said, as he was leaving the meetings in Minnesota, that “we’ll continue to meet next week and the goal is to get a deal done.”
