The round robin tournament of meetings related to the NFL labor dispute continued Monday with meetings between a small group of players and their attorneys in Minnesota with additional meetings scheduled to continue there today.
Players were informed in conference calls that there will be more meetings this week between the owners and players involving NFLPA executive director Demaurice Smith and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. A person familiar with the situation told the Associated Press that yesterday’s meetings were between the players and their attorneys only.
Last week’s meetings between players and owners were completed in Hull, MA, just south of Boston, and ended with a brief press conference where Smith and Goodell both said that the situation was extremely complex and that they were continuing to work hard.
Training camps are scheduled to open in about a month, so the time remaining to complete a deal, address free agency and get the players into camp is getting tight.
