Lawyers Out Again

This morning we said that any deal would be in the details.  So while lawyers will be necessary to cross the i’s and dot the t’s it appears the players and the owners aren’t quite ready for that.

Yesterday, Jeffrey Kessler and Jim Quinn representing the players, and Jeff Pash and Bob Batterman representing the owners were invited into the discussion after two weeks of watching from the sidelines.

Reports say that while progress was being made albeit slower than most of us hope, the introduction of the scribes created some tensions and executive director for the NFLPA DeMaurice Smith instructed his legal team to stand down.

ESPN said the lawyers “almost blew up the process.”  Today the respective teams have told their lawyers they’re out once again.

That said there is still much to be done on the business of football to make the dream of a 2011 season a reality.
