The Chicago Bears have been holding workouts since Tuesday. Led by quarterback Jay Cutler, approximately eight offensive skill players have been training together. The workouts are being held in an undisclosed location in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
The players practiced running routes to keep them fresh in their mind during this long offseason. Lovie Smith, the Bears head coach, said of the workouts: “It’s important. The skill guys can get together, but what’s really important right now is that all of our players are out working out.”
Leadership skills and player unity have been the story around the league this offseason, as player-coach contact is prohibited under the lockout. Players are forced to organize their own workouts, and young faces around the league such as Jay Cutler are seizing the opportunity to assert themselves as real team leaders.
