The NFLPA Executive committee voted today to give executive director DeMaurice Smith his $1 million discretionary bonus.
NFLPA President Kevin Mawae and the NFLPA Executive Committee released the following statement today:
“The Executive Committee of the NFLPA stands firmly united behind Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and what has been accomplished under his leadership. Today, we made an affirmative decision on his discretionary compensation. We look forward to having him serve our membership long into the future.”
To this point, it was unclear whether Smith would continue as executive director. Mawae and the player leadership of the NFLPA today showed their confidence in Smith.
