The Bears defense has a tall order this week. Their offense hasn’t been performing well after losing starting QB Jay Cutler and starting running back Matt Forte. Backup Caleb Hanie has thrown 6 interceptions in two games, and the Bears have lost 2 straight since Cutler went out. And now, the Denver Broncos and the Tim Tebow Show are coming to town.
The Broncos are 6-1 under Tebow, but his unorthodox style of play has the Bears chomping at the bit.
LB Lance Briggs, asked if he would be embarrassed if the Bears lost to Tebow and the Broncos, replied, “No, I will be frickin’ pissed.”
LB Brian Urlacher chimed in on Tebow as well, saying, “He’s not Michael Vick.”
It will largely be up to the Bears defense to shut down Tebow and the Broncos if their Bears are going to win, particularly in the fourth quarter. Their offense has only produced 23 points combined in the last two games, and the Denver defense has been playing solid football for the last two months. The Bears need to shut Tebow down and their offense will need to score some points. If the game remains close going into the fourth, it plays right into the hands of Tebow and the Broncos, who have been in fourth quarter dogfights in every win this season.
Both teams are chasing playoff spots and this figures to be a tough, street-fight type of game.
