Wearing Steelers Gear to Colts Practice Gets You… a Free Jersey?

On Monday, National Football League fan and Anderson, IN native Zach Simmons, 24, decided to visit Indianapolis Colts training camp at Anderson University with his Pittsburgh Steelers jersey. For that Simmons got a big surprise from the Colts.

Simmons wore the jersey to get the attention of former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and running back Mewelde Moore. That just didn’t get the attention of Arians or Moore as it also caught the attention of Colts head coach Chuck Pagano who decided to do something about that.

That something was getting Simmons some Colts gear.

It’s kind of our motto, you are either ‘all the way in or all the way out.’ I went over there and he’s a huge Arians fan obviously, and Mewelde Moore,” Pagano said. “With a little bit of coaxing, and a brand new Andrew Luck jersey, I said ‘look you’ve got to put this jersey on. If you do it you get to stay, and if you don’t we’ve got to escort you out of here.’ He wanted to watch practice and meet Bruce and them afterwards so it was a good deal.”

Simmons put on the jersey and took in the rest of practice. Once practice was over Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson went over and talked to Simmons before he met Arians and Moore. However, the gifts just didn’t end there.

Eight-year-old Cody Burris was given a football by wide receiver Reggie Wayne after he made a catch near the sidelines.
